CuCrZr reaches its intended property balance through controlled heat treatment, and the route should be coordinated with forging, welding and machining.

Process Sequence

A typical route may include solution treatment, rapid cooling and aging, but parameters depend on grade, section and required properties.

  • Large sections need adequate soaking and transfer control.
  • Machining allowance should account for scale, movement and final dimensional recovery.
  • Welded assemblies may require a different sequence from solid forged components.

Distortion and Property Control

Fixtures, loading orientation and cooling uniformity affect dimensional stability.

  • Critical dimensions should be inspected at defined process stages.
  • Hardness and conductivity provide useful process indicators when specified correctly.
  • Rework limits should be agreed before production.

Purchase Specification

The RFQ should state the desired material condition and the acceptance evidence required.

  • List applicable alloy standard and target property ranges.
  • Define test location and sampling where component size may cause variation.
  • Request heat-treatment records only when they add useful traceability to the project.
